Понос града, which is cyrillic for Ponos grada, means Pride of the City. In an English context, this would be translated to Pride of Belgrade. The monument on the embroidery is called Pobednik, which in English would be translated to The Victor. The Pobednik was raised to commemorate Serbia's victory over the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires during the Balkan wars and First World War. It is located in the Belgrade Fortress. Former Red Star player and captain Vujadin Savić has a tattoo of this embroidery on the back of his right calf.
